Disability Insurance
Government disability plans include the disability provisions of the CPP, EI and WCB plans.
Individual policies are those available directly from an insurance company. Group plans are those available through an employer or association.
Many individuals do not appreciate how little protection they have under their disability insurance coverage. In fact, many have no coverage at all, other than that offered by the CPP and EI.
Disability income insurance provides periodic payments when unable to work because of illness or injury after a waiting period is satisfied (usually 30 – 90 days).
